Privacy Policy

Starfield Indie recognizes the importance of protecting the privacy of all information provided by users of our web site, and all of our customers. We created this policy with a fundamental respect for our users’ right to privacy and to guide our relationships with our users. This privacy statement discloses the privacy practices for all products and services owned or provided by Starfield Indie.

Information Collection and Use

Starfield Indie collects information from our website users and customers. In this section of our privacy policy, we describe the type of information we collect and how we use it to improve services to our customers.

Google Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to track activity, for information on how Google uses the data collected please visit: www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/.

Data Collection

Our web sites have features that automatically collect information from users, to display content specific to users’ preferences. This information assists us in creating a site that responds to the needs of our users.

We use “cookies,” a piece of data stored on the user’s hard drive containing information about the user. Cookies benefit the user by requiring login only once, thereby saving time while on our site. If users reject the cookies, they may be limited in the use of some areas of our site. Additionally, we may note some of the pages the user visits on our site through the use of pixel tags (also called clear gifs). The use of cookies and pixels enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our site.

For our internal purposes, we gather date, time, browser type, navigation history (referer) and IP address of all visitors to our site. This information does not contain anything that can identify users personally. We use this information for our internal security audit log, trend analysis and system administration, and to gather broad demographic information about our user base for aggregate use.

Personal Information

You can access our Web site home page and browse our site without disclosing your personal data. We collect the personal data that you may volunteer while using our services. We do not collect information about our visitors from other sources, such as public records or bodies, or private organizations.

You may choose to register yourself, giving us your e-mail address to enable us to identify you. You may optionally elect to have us send you email using that address. This email falls into three categories. One is information on contests and social campaigns (for example, informing you of the status regarding a contest you enter.) The second category is informational, low volume marketing information—in particular we may send out a newsletter, and occasionally send out information about sales or special events. The third is for user account purposes. (ex: creating an account on our public forums.) You may opt in to any of these email options through the appropriate avenues.

We currently use 3rd parties for our online store offerings, as such we do not personally collect or store credit card information, such as (name, e-mail address, telephone number, address(s), credit card type, number, expiration, and CVV2 value). Your credit card information never passes through our site—it is captured directly by the secure payment gateways of the respective vendor.

Automatic Collection of Information

We do not automatically log personal data nor do we link information automatically logged by other means with personal data about specific individuals. (That is: the only personal data we collect about you is what you give us). We do not use cookies to store personal data nor do we link non-personal information stored in cookies with personal data about specific individuals. Our online store offerings are hosted by secure 3rd parties, we do not receive or collect any of your personal information from them.

With Whom Your Information is Shared

We do not share personally identifiable information with other companies, apart from those acting as our agent in providing our product(s)/service(s), and which agree to use it only for that purpose and to keep the information secure and confidential. Also, our subsidiary and affiliate companies, entities into which our company may be merged, or entities to which any of our assets, products, sites or operations may be transferred, will be able to use personal information. We will also disclose information we maintain when required to do so by law, for example, in response to a court order or a subpoena or other legal obligation, in response to a law enforcement agency’s request or, in special cases, when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify and undertake the bringing of legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) our rights or property. Users should also be aware that Canadian and certain foreign courts, including without limitation courts of equity such as U.S. Bankruptcy Courts, may have the extra-jurisdictional authority under certain circumstances to permit personal information to be shared or transferred to third parties without permission.
